News (2005)

Here are a number of events that occurred in 2005 in the parish  (with the most recent event at the top).

The Light Party

On the 31st October in Stoke Holy Cross Church Hall, a light party was held for the local primary school children.   It was an alternative Christian celebration of all Hallows Eve, where the emphasis was on light, not darkness.  The children and helpers were dressed in bright colours, and black was banned.  Fun, food and games were enjoyed by all.  Next year, we're hoping even more children will come.

The Scarecrow Festival

In September 2005 we took part in the annual Five villages Scarecrow Festival.  Our theme was a wedding party and we made 15+ scarecrows, most of them were displayed in the churchyard and can be seen above.  Our efforts were rewarded by winning the competition but most fun was had by actually making the scarecrows - by young and old alike.  Watch this space to see what we do next year as we've got the bug.
